IR2009-6/03. Health Requirements for Import Wool into Iran

A health certificate has to be issued by a veterinarian authorized by the Veterinary Authority of the exporting country, which certify the following health attestations:

 

The consignment of wool intend for export into I.R.Iran :

1-Originate from animals which:

   a)  Are located in the zones which is free from foot and mouth disease.

   b)  Have shown no sign of anthrax during ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections;

   c)  Come from establishments which are not placed under quarantine on account of anthrax control.

2-has been clipped from healthy and live sheep.

 

3- Has been washed with solution of water and soda, or potassium soap.

 

4-In case of separating wool from skin (after slaughter of animal), the clipping has been performed by use of chemical solution such as calcium hydroxide or sodium sulfide.

 

5-After drying, the wool has been disinfected with formaldehyde gas by the following procedure; it has been placed in a suitable container and for each cubic meter space of the container a mixture of 30 grams of potassium permanganate and 50 ml of commercial formalin has been used.
